The bond between Zak Anderegg and Riley, a dog found in Utah in a canyon, must be one in a million.
Zak had been hiking through the canyons of Utah, when a twist of fate united him with a dog that really needed his help. At the bottom of a 350 foot hole, Zak found a emaciated puppy. After some investigation, Zak determined that there was no way that the puppy had made it to the bottom of that canyon on his own, and came to the conclusion that someone must have put him there.
Naturally, this affected Zak very deeply, and so he left the pup with some food and water and a blanket, and went back to civilization to gather the supplies necessary to successfully complete the rescue operation.
The next day, Zak returned with an ATV, and dog carrier, and over 600 feet of rope. He was determined to rescue that puppy – and rescue that puppy he did. He named the puppy ‘Riley’.
After some professional care from the veterinarians, Zak picked up Riley and brought him to his forever home to meet the rest of his new family – including a bigger canine brother. They’ve been living happily together ever since, and even made an appearance on the Ellen Degerenes show! How about that!
Thank goodness for people like Zak, who love all living creatures and are willing to do good deeds for those in need.
