Dog Breed Information – English Bulldog

Where does one begin when talking about the English Bulldog?

This breed is among the most lovable and gentle dog breeds, despite its intimidating appearance. Short and wide, with a thick bone structure, distinctly flat face, and cascading wrinkles are trademarks of the breed. The English Bulldog would make a wonderful family pet for anyone that would welcome one into their home.  However, there are numerous health problems associated with the breed, so it is important to make sure you are financially and emotionally equipped to commit to that responsibility.

TEMPERAMENT

The English Bulldog is incredibly gentle and easy-going. They aren’t easily startled or irritated, and have an incredible amount of tolerance and patience for the “Oooh’s”,  “Awwww’s”, hugs, and kisses that they will inevitably receive from adoring humans. This trait is particularly important when welcoming a dog into a home that has or plans on having children. If children are a part of your life, or a part of your plans, you can rest assured that an English Bulldog will fit right in like one of the kids. Some people have been known to say that having an English Bulldog is like having a child that never grows up. Innocent, playful, and carefree – these are the three best words to describe the temperament of an English Bulldog.
