Loyal Dog Upset Over Grandma’s Grave

This is a very special video and truly proves that dogs have souls and care for their companions immensely. Wiley is a loyal therapy wolf-dog who is used to help veterans returning from war with PTSD. He provides therapy and care through Lockwood Animal Rescue Center and a program called Warriors and Wolves. They have many other wolves/wolf dogs that they’ve rescued and they provide a truly unique and valuable experience. You can see just how valuable that experience is in this video. As a dedicated therapy dog, Wiley develops deep and lasting relationships with the humans he cares for, and one of those people he connected with was Sarah’s grandma, Gladys. Watch as Wiley shows such intense emotion over Gladys’ grave.

Here’s what Sarah had to say about some comments she’s gotten:

“To add some clarification: I am not a vet so I can’t say if he’s reverse sneezing as some of you are stating. I can tell you that he has never done that before and hasn’t done it since. I may be anthropomorphizing his actions but it’s how I’m choosing to deal with loss, so deal with it. Also, for those stating he is dying, I promise he’s not. We have a veterinarian on staff at the sanctuary and Wiley is just fine.”

It looks like a very special bond to me, and it certainly doesn’t surprise me that a dog would have such an emotional connection to his/her human companion. What a loving, loyal dog! Share with your family and friends if this touched your heart as much as it did mine.
