TMZ recently obtained a video of a scene shot in a pool for the upcoming film “A Dog’s Purpose.” It shows one of the dogs used in the film desperately trying to resist being forced into the turbulent water to shoot a scene. In the video, you can see a trainer attempting to force the dog into the water, while the German Shepherd adamantly resisted, scared of the raging water. By one of the comments made by an bystander, it also seems as if the water may have been cold.
TMZ explained that sources in connection with the production told them that eight outboard motors were used to churn the water, recreating a rushing river. The German Shepherd finally went into the water – seemingly forcibly – and ended up being submerged. Someone immediately yelled, “Cut it!,” and handlers rushed to help the animal.
TMZ was in contat with Amblin Partners and Universal Pictures. They companies told TMZ, “Fostering a safe environment and ensuring the ethical treatment of our animal actors was of the utmost importance to those involved in making this film and we will look into the circumstances surrounding this video.”
